Title: A Friendly Drive-Around with a Tame Racing Driver

Notes: Written for “A Ficathon Walks into a Bar” challenge on LiveJournal. When I first read this assignment, my first thought was “????”, then I burst out laughing and wondered how I was going to pull this one off. Well, here we go.

Doctor Carson Beckett meets an silent “tame racing driver” in a pub who shows him technology isn't all bad. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May make a cameo at the end of this story.

Notes:

Written for SGA Big Bang 2009. I had a lot of fun and a lot of headaches writing this one. Thanks to my betas, secondalto, LadyAmarra and faziarizvi on LJ.

Warnings: AU, Character Deaths (canon and non canon), implied sex (nothing graphic)

Pairings: Elizabeth Weir/Peter Grodin, Carson/Teyla, Rodney/Katie, Radek/Jeannie, Ronon/Melena

1) I refer to the SGA team in our universe by first name and in the "Britgate" Universe by last name. So "John" is Colonel Sheppard, while "Sheppard" is his counterpart. There are a few exceptions. "Peter" is Peter Grodin, "Ronon" is Ronon in either universe.
2) In the Britgate Universe, the "City" is sentinent and when Atlantis refers to herself or the Expedition refers to her, the words "City, Her, She and My" are capitalized. This is NOT a typo.
3) This story is definitely AU, but it references episodes from all 5 seasons of Stargate Atlantis. One scene in particular is a combination of two Rodney/Katie scenes from "Sunday" and "Quarantine", slightly altered.

Notes: I wrote this SGA story a little while ago, then forgot about it. It's set in early season 1, between “38 Minutes” and “Suspicion”, before the Athosians leave Atlantis for the mainland. So Ford, Grodin and Bates show up here (I gave Bates the first name of Kyle), and I'm assuming that “Sgt. Canada”, aka Chuck Campbell came in with the original Expedition, since we first saw him in “The Brotherhood”.

I really didn't think Bates is the ogre that Sheppard and the others make him out to be. He did have legit concerns, and being paranoid was part of his job. This story focuses on an unlikely set of connections [Chuck, Bates and Halling, though you don't really see Halling in the story.]
