Captain Mayweather's Mission

Author's Notes:

Travis gets a command...sort of. He's supposed to be the best helmsman in the fleet and being a boomer, he'd know about different kind of ships. Here's a situation where he uses those skills. This is the first in what became "The Boomer Bust Series."
There is a lot of intraship conversation in this story, so those are in italics. Travis's thoughts are between the asterisks * and */.

Author's Notes:
This was the first ENT fic I wrote, after I got mad at Major's Hayes's death in "Countdown". It got me thinking...what if Malcolm had gone to save Hoshi instead of Hayes? Don't get me wrong...Malcolm's one of my favorite characters, but I can't help whumping him and upping the angst.

Notes: This is written for August’s “Get Trip Into Trouble Month.” Although this centers on Trip getting into trouble, for some reason, the Muse decided to put this in Travis’s POV. It’s still hilarious, though...a first contact has a rather strange complication.

There are a few literary references in here. Can you find them? :) And I thought that Trip might be a more eclectic comic book collector and not just have issues of Superman.

Trip Gets Stuck

Chapter One )

Notes: According to Archer’s bio on “In a Mirror, Darkly”, “our” Jonathan Archer attended the launch of Enterprise NCC-1701 in 2245, dying in his sleep soon afterwards. Memory Alpha’s website gives the year of Archer’s birth as 2112, making him 133 years old at the launch. I figured that by the mid 22nd century, humans can live past the century mark, but I also thought that Archer might’ve been one of the exceptions of living past 130. (McCoy did it in TNG, but that’s only because he kept replacing his vital organs).

Captain Robert April (1701's first captain) is an Englishman. Sarah Poole was in The Star Trek Animated Series “The Counter-Clock Incident” and later became April’s wife. And yes, George Kirk is James T. Kirk’s father.  This was written before the Star Trek Reboot.

Archer’s last statement to April mirrors McCoy’s line to Data in TNG’s “Encounter at Farpoint”.

Spoilers: ENT “Broken Bow”

Notes: This is a one-shot from Hoshi’s POV. This story shows how she uses her linguistics talent and skills to help with a rescue mission, and how it can be so easy to get caught in a mis-communication with an unfamiliar language. So much is said through silent looks and gestures as well. This is set in Season 4, after “Terra Prime”.
